Dr Lydia Trimble

Clincial Psychologist · CBT Therapist · VIPP Practitioner

I am a fully qualified, HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and CBT Therapist having completed my doctorate training at University of Surrey in 2026.  I have experience supporting people of all ages, including children, young people, and adults. Since qualifying, I have remained committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring my practice is evidence-based. Currently, I work within the NHS in a Children and Young People’s Mental Health service and run a small independent practice alongside this.

Difficulties I work with

I work with individuals aged 11+, and for VIPP-SD specifically, I can work with children aged 0–6 years. I work with a variety of emotional and psychological difficulties including:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression and low mood,
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & trauma
  • Stress
  • Parenting support
  • Offering Video-feedback Intervention to Promote Positive Parenting and Sensitive Discipline (VIPP-SD)

I’m also trained in Video-feedback Intervention to Promote Positive Parenting and Sensitive Discipline (VIPP-SD), a short-term, preventive approach designed for caregivers of children aged 1 to 6. I delivered and researched this intervention within a perinatal service, supporting parents in reflecting on their interactions and gaining a better understanding of the world through their child’s eyes.

My Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Solution-Focused
  • Narrative Therapy

I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches.  We can discuss together what works best for you when we first meet.

My Values

I aim to bring empathy, warmth, and genuine acceptance to my work with you. My approach is to work together to help you make sense of your experiences and challenges and to find ways forward that align with what matters most to you (or your child). I recognise that reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, so I strive to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and non-judgemental.

We’ll shape our work together so it suits your needs, goals, and pace. I believe it’s important to understand each person within their wider social, cultural, and neurodiverse context. My hope is to support you in building insight, confidence, and skills that continue to help you long after therapy ends.

Clinic Details

I offer in person and remote sessions from the Hampshire Wellbeing Consulting Rooms in Hursley on Wednesdsay evenings and Friday afternoons.

For anyone considering VIPP-SD, home visits can be arranged if preferred.
